Our delightful friend, Jean Grainger, has done it again! She has such a gift of bringing you to Ireland with her; of portraying real, vulnerable, intriguing characters; of developing stories that involve your emotions. Lena and Eli’s children are growing and beginning to be independent. Emmett is toward the end of college, and Malachy gives him an opportunity to spread his wings. Jack and Skipper become involved with two runaways from the orphanage, and when you meet Mother Ignatius you can understand why. Lena’s niece, Nellie, surprises everyone with her career choice. Just a fitting end to the series. There’s been tragedy and heartache in this story, but the theme of family and their kind of supportive love is beautifully written. Her books are full of humanity, telling the character's stories with great detail and making you feel their emotions. You actually become invested in their lives, and I hate it when their stories are complete and the series ends! I am always anxiously awaiting her next release. Another thing that I appreciate about her books is that it is obvious that she is intelligent and educated. Her word usage, spelling, and grammar are always impeccable which contribute greatly to my reading enjoyment. Just an overall great author in my opinion.
